Encarsia parasitic wasps against whitefly – natural and effective
Encarsia formosa are biologically beneficial organisms , measuring only about 0.6 mm in size, that are specifically used to combat whiteflies . They parasitize the pests' larvae or suck them alive – completely without chemicals.
After hatching, they lay their eggs directly inside the whitefly larvae. These, in turn, develop into new parasitic wasps. This biological cycle ensures a continuous reduction in pest infestation. Once the whiteflies are gone, the beneficial insects disappear on their own.
Areas of application for Encarsia formosa
- Houseplants and ornamental plants: Ideal for indoor use – safe and chemical-free.
- Cannabis cultivation: gentle pest control without loss of quality.
- Greenhouse & Garden: Protects against mass reproduction of whiteflies.
- Agriculture: Sustainable solution for professional area treatment.
Application & Tips
- Time of application: As soon as the first whiteflies are visible.
- Storage: Short-term storage possible for 1–2 days at 6–10 °C – better to apply immediately.
- Temperature: Works from approx. 13 °C, ideal for greenhouse and indoor growing.
- No chemicals: Do not use pesticides for at least 6 weeks before and after application.
- Lighting: If there is a lack of light in winter, use additional light (at least 5,000 lux).
🌿 Conclusion: Encarsia formosa is the ideal, natural solution to effectively and sustainably combat whiteflies – especially for indoor and greenhouse areas.
So wendest du Encarsia-Schlupfwespen richtig an
Was sind Weiße Fliegen?

Encarsia formosa are tiny beneficial insects that specifically parasitize whitefly larvae. They lay their eggs inside the pests or suck their blood out. This biologically interrupts the infestation – entirely without chemicals.
The main insects controlled are the greenhouse whitefly ( Trialeurodes vaporariorum ) and, to some extent, the cotton whitefly ( Bemisia tabaci ).
The first beneficial insects hatch after 5–10 days and immediately begin to combat the infestation. A visible reduction in infestation is usually noticeable after 2–3 weeks.
Yes, Encarsia can be combined well with predatory mites or yellow mites – depending on the pest pattern and the environment.
No. The insects are tiny, don't sting, barely fly, and disappear without a trace once the whiteflies are gone.
Biological agents such as Encarsia specifically attack only the pest without harming plants, the environment or beneficial organisms – and without leaving any residues.
We usually ship live beneficial insects Monday to Thursday to ensure they arrive fresh and vital – delivery is usually within 1-3 business days.
Yes, the animals are in the pupal stage on carrier cards and will only hatch in your home – optimally protected and ready for use.
It's best to use them immediately upon receipt. They can be stored for 1–2 days at 6–10°C, but use should not be delayed.
Live beneficial insects are non-returnable. However, we're happy to help you with any problems.
Carefully open the packaging immediately, remove the cards and place them on the plants according to the instructions – do not expose to direct sunlight.
Shipping to packing stations is not possible because these are living organisms. International deliveries are possible upon request.
Hang the carrier cards directly on the infested plants – ideally close to the undersides of the leaves where the whiteflies are found.
As soon as you discover the first whiteflies or eggs/larvae – the sooner you do, the more effective the control will be.
We recommend one card per plant. For larger areas or greenhouses, one card should be placed every 1–2 m².
Depending on the severity of the infestation, 1–3 applications at intervals of 1–2 weeks are recommended.
The infestation decreases significantly, fewer adult whiteflies fly up, and the typical black dots (parasitized larvae) are visible.
Encarsia are particularly suitable for greenhouses, indoor plants, and sheltered balconies. Outdoors, their use is often too dependent on the weather and less effective.
The beneficial organisms can no longer find food, cannot develop further and disappear without leaving any residue – quite naturally.
In this case, we recommend further application or the additional use of other beneficial organisms such as predatory mites or yellow mites.
No. Chemical pesticides should be avoided for at least 6 weeks before and after use, as they can harm beneficial insects.
Encarsia require stable temperatures of approximately 13 °C and at least 5,000 lux of light to become active and reproduce.
Yes, for example, predatory mites (Amblyseius swirskii), yellow tablets for infestation control, or neem oil – a combination of several measures is ideal.
The carrier cards can be disposed of with general waste. Please do not release live animals into the environment when they are no longer needed.
